Being in coalition with the Tories has been a severe test for us all. I voted for it and remain committed to the idea that Lib Dems can do more in government than we can as the second party of opposition.
Whatever the press may say, the British people voted for cooperation between parties in 2010 and we have shown great pragmatism and bravery by fighting for all the British people, rather than trying to score electoral A points like some of our competitors. I believe we will come out stronger for the experience of government.
I am deeply passionate about Liberal Democrat principles. If you select me, I promise to fight our coalition partners’ lack of them as hard as we ever have. I relish the opportunity to return to the street politics and common sense policies that our voters and members believe in.
